Tranquility, Curiosity, Charisma, Presence, Joy

The above virtues were yielded by a recent existential endeavor when I was tasked with soliciting my familiars as to, “What I bring into the room with me” and, “What shows up when I do?”  As humbling and affirming as they are, the above attributes serve as a compass for both my personal and professional lives and as guideposts in my partnerships with my clients.

Buenos Dias my friends, my name is George Calderon, President and Founder of the wellness movement: SolMar International.  Born and raised in Washington State, I operated my practice there and while deciding to move to Mexico during the pandemic, founded SolMar which encompasses my therapy and life coaching practices and guides our lovely holistic health and wellness boutique hotels: Casa Del Maya, Casa Oasis Guest House and Spa and Casa Mar a Cielo.  The mission of SolMar International is to wed hospitality, consciousness, holistic health and wellness and experience.  Very simply, we aim to build a kind of bridge of wellness in the wonderful, festive and healing spirit of Mexico and Latin America to all parts of the world.

At my essence though, very simply, I am a facilitator, a promotor and a servant.  I have been a helper for over thirty years and during this span of time, I have aided children, youth, families, adults, couples in settings such as private practice, in settings such as private practice, schools, community agencies, medical centers, hospitals, and even criminal justice facilities.

My mission is to help others to, as Socrates urged, “to know thyself.”  This process is to recognize who we are at the level of consciousness, soul, essence and spirit well beyond whom we have come to know as ourselves.  Upon making connection with our consciousness, spirit and soul, we can then mindfully exert a kind of free will in distinguishing our authentic selves from the one that has been, “encoded,” or “conditioned,” into us resulting in the state we find ourselves.  Through our familial, cultural, and experiential conditioning, we have been shaped or as Don Miguel Ruiz put it, “domesticated from our wildness.”  Much of this domestication as has been both subtle, unsubtle, cunning and violent, imposed on us over months, years and decades, to the extent where it has now encoded into the subconscious where we are no longer even aware of what has been conceded and why we are being guided or drawn to reenter the recurrent unfulfilling cycles.

I am a native of Washington state, grew up in the Skagit Valley and now reside in both Seattle and Merida, Mexico.  I am a graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and also a Master of Social Work Degree.  I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Life Coach, a Substance Use Dependency Professional and speak Spanish.  I look forward to assisting you to live your fullest life.

“Since mid-2020 George has actively supported and propelled us through a very challenging time involving…starting a new relationship and moving in together during a pandemic, anxiety/depression, job loss, family conflict and grief… we've been able to transition from chaos and suffering to healing and tremendous growth in our relationships with each other, alcohol, family and friends, the workplace, and most importantly, ourselves. Many thanks to you, George, for excelling in your profession and always going the extra mile, on a personal level, to ensure the very best outcomes for us in life.”
